Habitica turns your whole to-do list into a role-playing game, and its parties fight monsters together. StreakParty is narrower: a small group shares one streak for one habit and checks in with photo proof. Both are free to start and both are built for accountability with friends. Which one suits you depends on whether a game motivates you or gets in the way.
At a glance
| StreakParty | Habitica | |
|---|---|---|
| Core idea | A shared streak for one habit, kept by a small group | Your habits, dailies and to-dos as an RPG, with an avatar, gear and pets |
| Social | Each habit is its own party, with a leaderboard, group chat, boosts and nudges | Parties that take on boss quests together, plus guilds and challenges |
| Proof | Photo check-ins the party can see, plus a note and mood and energy | You tick the task off; there is no photo proof |
| Numbers | A party can record distance, minutes, money, weight × reps or pages, and charts it | Habits count up or down; tasks are done or not done |
| Missing a day | A streak freeze covers it, and the frozen day is visible to the party | Missed dailies cost health, and in a boss quest they hurt the whole party |
| To-do list | No. It only tracks habits | Yes: habits, dailies and one-off to-dos in one app |
| Platforms | iPhone and Android | iPhone, Android and the web |
| Price model | Free; optional Pro subscription | Free; optional subscription and in-game gem purchases |
Where Habitica is better
- If a game is what keeps you going. Levelling up, collecting gear and pets, and fighting bosses with your party is genuinely fun, and Habitica has years of content behind it.
- Everything in one place. Habitica handles one-off to-dos and chores as well as habits. StreakParty is only for habits.
- A big community. Guilds and public challenges mean you can find people with the same goal even if your friends aren't on it.
- The web. Habitica runs in a browser as well as on phones, and it is open source.
Where StreakParty is better
- Proof, not just a tick. A check-in can carry a photo the party can see. It's harder to fudge a run when your friends can see the evidence.
- One habit, one group. Your running party, your reading party and your savings party can each have different people in them. Nobody has to share your whole life to keep you honest on one thing.
- Less to learn. There's no game to understand first. You start a party, invite people and check in.
- Real numbers. A party can track kilometres, minutes or money, so the leaderboard compares like with like and a free chart shows your progress.
- Talking about it. Every party has a group chat, and you can send a friend a boost or a "your turn" nudge.
Which should you choose?
Choose Habitica if you like games, want your to-dos and habits in one app, or want a large online community. Choose StreakParty if you want a few real friends watching one habit at a time, with photo proof and nothing to set up beyond the habit itself. Both are free to try, so the quickest way to know is to try the one that sounds more like you.
